Always exercise your own good judgment when selecting a director. When meeting with a spiritual director feel free to directly ask your director about their qualifications, including: 1) their training and educational background; 2) credentials and certification (if applicable); 3) theological or faith perspective; primary spiritual influences. You and your director should also have a frank and up-front discussion about fees and frame, etc.
Spiritual Directors/Soul Care Practitioners for Clergy/Missionaries: Shepherd Heart has added a classified section for the paid ads of spiritual directors who claim to have specialized training in direction. In publishing spiritual directors’ paid advertised listing, Shepherd Heart Ministry Consulting is not endorsing these directors/soul care practitioners, and is not responsible for the quality of their services to you or anyone else. Shepherd Heart does not credential nor accredit any spiritual director/practitioner, nor verify directors’/practitioners’ claims about themselves or their practices. Choose from this (and any other) listing at your own risk. |
Spiritual Direction and Soul Care are often intended for discernment and spiritual growth. If you feel that you are facing an emotional or mental health crisis, a referral for therapy from a licensed mental health professional is more appropriate than direction/soul care.
