Why I’m going on retreat again

By Forrest Robinson

I am very excited and eager to attend the Shepherd Heart retreat again! I attended the Shepherd Heart retreat in Arizona for the first time in late-September 2023. I had long desired to go to a retreat for literally decades, and with no prior experience, I did not know what to expect. I mainly longed for a space in which I could get off of the “hamster wheel” and slow down the pace a bit. I wanted to be able to practice quieting my mind and centering myself.

The retreat was organized by Rev. Melissa. She and her trusted team facilitated an experience that, to me, was more perfect than I could have hoped. It seemed to me that they were very attentive to each personality and need of every individual in the group. And the group consisted of absolutely wonderful people. The daily schedule and activities were very well planned out and included activities in nature together while also allowing us each adequate time we needed throughout each day for  prayer and personal reflection. This retreat experience with Shepherd Heart far exceeded any expectation I could have had.

Here’s a poem I wrote on retreat:

Want to come along? See you in September!
